SciTech Discovery Center
It features regular changing yet very interactive exhibitions which are primarily designed to educate and inform all the visitors on some subjects that concern math, engineering, technology and science. It also offers planetarium and puppet shows and live sciences which are presented by enthusiastic and professional science communication staffs.
Large feature exhibition is rotated every 6 months that pertains to a specified theme, concept or storyline from which are built in by the workshop, graphics and design department of SciTech. It was the first science center in Australia to create large scaled type of interactive exhibitions. Apart from that, all exhibitions in the SciTech have toured nationally going to some other places all over the world.
In the year 2004, SciTech leased Omni Max empty theater and was able to rebrand it into Horizon – Planetarium with substantial refit. The entrance to this amazing planetarium was never included in the price ticket going to SciTech which means to say that there is a separate ticket to those who wanted to take a visit to this planetarium.
The 70mm of IMAX projector, associated spherical star maps system and platter system in this planetarium was completely removed in the year 2004 and was just kept in storage. The Sky-Skan was chosen to carry out all the possible upgrades to this planetarium. That is why the installation of the 6 Barco 909 types of projectors took place for a full dome show, highest quality astronomy as well as for live element presentations. All presenters in this kind of planetarium will be based on the front portion of the planetarium and they will also have complete control over the real time visualization of astronomy.
SciTech planetarium has 18m diameter and is still the largest planetarium in Southern Hemisphere. It is very famous for passing tourists, private events, public members, school groups that ranges from primary grade up to their 12th grade.
